"Singer"

woodcut There are some aspects of our humanity that profoundly define us. Singing is not unique to humans. but when we sing we draw into that singing our souls and hearts, our memories, hopes, despairs, pain, fear. Our joy our passion, our leaping exhuberance, we sing. We put into our singing the essence of our humanity in all its complexity, all its ambiguity and conflict.

Singing is the natural state of our spirit, the language of our soul. It leaps, climbs, rises from our diaphram, lifts our lungs, carresses our throat and circling into our ears flows through our mind, spirals our being vitalizing every particle of mind and body.

In some traditions they say that God sang creation into being and that we are each particles of God in this world.
