"From my heart - with my hands - for tomorrow"

woodcut This was one of the images that began simply for the beauty of the woman's figure and the sewing machine. Then as I worked, I thought about women who have been sewing for centuries.

Many women have worked sewing long hours for others. But before that and along with that and to this day, women have sewn for those they love. Sitting up late at night making things for each of the ones they love, planning for the next season, the next year, sewing for each child as they grow, mending, taking in, letting out, endlessly creating love with their hands. After all the other work of the day, while others slept, women sewed.

Sewing has been a ritual of love, practiced for millenia by women, creating the sacred fabric of their worlds.
